  • BOTOX® prohibits the muscles in the area of injection from contracting. This, in turn, reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles. At Charme Wellness, BOTOX® is most commonly used to eliminate frown lines, crow’s feet, horizontal creases in the forehead and lines around the mouth.

  • The process for administering BOTOX® occurs after a thorough assessment of the patient’s medical history. Once this has been established, the skin is cleansed and possibly marked with a pencil. BOTOX® is then administered to the patient with a very small needle, and the medication is delivered into the muscle. After BOTOX®, the patient will not feel any different, because the medicine will take 3-7 days to work. Most patients will see their desired look around the 14-day mark and this should last up to 3 months. The patient will return for a follow up appointment and photos. It is recommended that the patient does not participate in vigorous exercise for 24 hours, does not lay flat for 2-3 hours after treatment and does not rub the affected area. No facials or laser treatments should be performed for 2 weeks and no massages where your face is pressed into the bed during treatment for 1 week.

  • While wrinkle relaxers are generally considered a safe and effective treatment, it does come with a few potential side effects, just as any other procedure. Immediately following the treatment, it is common to experience slight redness or swelling around the injection sites. Bruising may occur but is rare. These side effects are normal and will disappear within a couple of days. Less common, yet serious complications may include adjacent muscles being affected. This may result in unwanted outcomes, such as a drooping eyelid. There may also be difficulty in swallowing following a procedure, yet this is a complication rarely reported. Your expert injector will ensure that you are aware of all the risks of the treatments, as well as the likelihood of them occurring so you can make an informed decision.

  • With muscle relaxers, you can expect a more refreshed and youthful appearance. We all want to look refreshed and rested, and that is what we achieve with wrinkle relaxers. People with muscle disorders or allergies to BOTOX® are some of the few who should not be treated.

This product is very popular at Charme Wellness due to its multiple uses and the natural look that it provides.

    Restylane® Lyft

    Restylane® Lyft is a hyaluronic acid with a high G prime, meaning it has great firmness for lifting the midface and for correcting moderate lines. Restylane® Lyft is great for the patient who is starting to see the signs of aging, or the younger person who was never gifted with the curves of the midface. As we age, our skin loses collagen and volume, therefore the skin starts to sag. We will often see lines forming and the cheeks begin to flatten. At Charme Wellness, we can make these corrections in a short period of time in the office.

  • After consultation and assessment, photos are taken, and skin is cleansed and possibly marked with a pencil for injections sites. Some areas receive a topical numbing and other areas an injectable numbing. Dermal filler is then administered by needle or cannula (a blunt tip catheter) in the desired area. Some massaging might be necessary by the consultant. When home, it is recommended that the patient not massage the area or engage in vigorous activity the day of treatment. If a bruise is present, sunscreen should be worn, and arnica can be applied. Skin should be kept clean (wash with mild soap) for at least 6 hours. A follow up appointment is advised 2 weeks after treatment.

  • Some swelling, redness, and bruising is possible immediately after the procedure, though this will be temporary. Most patients can resume their normal activities right away without issue. There are other rare risks that we would discuss at your visit when we see you here at Charme Wellness. There are a few things to keep in mind as you are recovering and enjoying the results:

    • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.

    • Avoid extreme heat and cold exposures.

    • Use sunscreen to protect your skin when outside.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise immediately after your appointment.

    • Apply a cold compress to the area as needed to reduce swelling and help with pain.

  • These products are great for all skin types and ethnicities. However, please note that these products are not for pregnant or breastfeeding moms or those with allergies to lidocaine.

In other cases, Juvéderm® can be used to add volume to areas such as the lips, chin, and jaw. There are currently several Juvéderm® products available on the market, each of which offers its own unique benefits.   • After a thorough consultation with your Charme Wellness nurse injector, photos are taken, and the goals are discussed with you. The skin is cleansed and depending on the area of treatment, a topical numbing cream may be applied. The skin is often marked with a pencil for injection points. When the dermal filler is being administered, it is done with a very fine needle or cannula (not sharp but looks like a needle). Small amounts of the dermal filler are then applied to different plains under the skin. This is relatively a short in-office treatment with little downtime, and the results are immediate. Before the treatment, there are a few different things you can do in order to prepare. If you take blood-thinning medication, it’s best that you discontinue the use of those medications for at least one week before the treatment commences. Alcohol use (especially red wine) should be ceased 1-2 days before the injections that take place, as should aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, Vitamin E, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, and Ginkgo Biloba.

  • The most common side effects of treatment are mild and include minor pain, itching, tenderness, redness, or temporary lumps and bumps around the injection area. Serious side effects can happen with filler treatments, which your medical professional will discuss with you prior to performing the treatment. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you will need to postpone your treatments. If you have had any major illnesses in the past or cosmetic issues, your medical professional will discuss this with you prior to your treatment.

  • Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid filler, which is a substance that occurs naturally within the human body. Hyaluronic acid attracts water in your skin, so it can improve the appearance of suppleness and smoothness in the skin. Hyaluronic acid naturally diminishes as we age, and Juvéderm® works to replenish any of the acids that have been lost throughout the aging process. Juvéderm® will clear up lines and creases around the mouth and nose. While it does not change skin pigmentation, it can greatly improve the appearance of acne scars, and can be used to enhance the size and shape of the lips. The results you can expect to see are powerful and rejuvenating, to give you a youthful look. The Juvéderm® family of products may last approximately 6 to 12 months.

  • Juvéderm® is a great dermal filler for most people.   • PDO, also known as Polydioxanone, is a surgical thread that has been used in operating rooms for decades. There are many types of PDO threads; some smooth and some that are barbed for a lifting effect. Both threads have the ability to give cellular renewal through collagen stimulation and neovascularization to improve skin texture, fine lines and elasticity. These threads will be reabsorbed by your body while stimulating collagen at the same time. They can be used on the face, neck, chest and more.

  • After a thorough evaluation and after photos are taken, the skin is cleansed thoroughly and marked with a washable marker. Small amounts of lidocaine are used for anesthetic, and the procedure is performed minutes after. Depending on the area and the amount of threads used, this can take 15 minutes to an hour. Sometimes a small band-aid may be applied to the area of entry, which can be removed shortly thereafter. The patient is given instructions to not participate in strenuous exercise, to not rub the affected area, to not make over-exaggerated movements (such as taking a large bite of an apple, but rather to cut in bite size pieces for the first week) and to wash gently.

  • Some side effects, which can occur as early complications of the procedure; are dimpling, thread exposure, asymmetry, and parotid gland injury. Fortunately, these side effects are generally mild to moderate and can be corrected in relatively simple procedures with no permanent sequencing. These threads will dissolve in 3-6 months depending on the particular thread used.

  • There are many benefits of PDO thread lift at Charme Wellness. This is a minimally invasive procedure that can lift and smooth areas of the face and neck in a simple office procedure. PDO threads are strong, non-allergic and fully biodegradable. The procedure requires only a small amount of numbing, and the patient is awake the entire time. There is minimal downtime and the patient is able to go to work the next day.

  • PDO thread is a great alternative for the healthy patient who is not ready or willing to have surgery. There are different degrees of correction needed, therefore this procedure is for mild sagging and lifting. The smooth PDO threads are great for the skin that is thinning with fine lines since it adds structure to the underlying skin. It is also great for brow lifting, and once again, for the more natural look, as this is not a surgical procedure. Patients that are on blood thinners should avoid medications for 1 week prior, if recommended by their Doctor.

  • PRP injections are a relatively easy procedure done in less than 1 hour in the office. The PRP part of our blood has been proven to add slight volume while stimulating collagen. PRP injections have become very popular because it is using the patient’s own plasma and is very natural with no real complications. This provides a very natural look that many patients desire. This procedure can be injected absolutely anywhere on the face and body.

  • Patients should abstain from herbal supplements that increase bruising, alcohol, and N-saids such as Motrin and Ibuprofen for at least 1 week prior to treatment. The day of the procedure, the patient’s blood is drawn and put into a centrifuge. A centrifuge is a machine that operates at a rapid speed separating the components of the blood, one component being PRP. The area that will be treated is cleansed and the PRP is injected either with a small needle or cannula. The patient is given post instructions at that time and a follow up is scheduled 4-6 weeks later.

  • Because PRP is derived from the patient’s own plasma very little risks are associated with this procedure. Possible side effects are tenderness at the site, swelling and bruising. These are all normal and temporary.

  • PRP is a great procedure to assist with skin that is in need of collagen and firmness. Patients that have acne scars or areas of slight volume loss can also benefit from this procedure. This treatment can be in a series or stand alone, 4-6 weeks apart and maintained once or twice a year.

  • Patients looking to improve their skin issues such as scars, volume loss, and signs of aging could benefit from this treatment. Most patients are a good candidate due to its natural ingredients, however, those with a rash, active acne or psoriasis should not receive this treatment.
